This webinar will be an overview of how the legal system works with respect to being an expert witness. The expert role in the judicial system will be explained in regards to evidence collection, testing and analysis. Proper elements of an effective expert report will also be presented. Preparation for deposition and trial testimony and then how to convey the important elements of the analysis to the judge or jury to aid them in determining a judgment. You will also be presented with an overview of successful procedures to follow during the investigation phase and how to determine the necessary depth of the investigation in order to avoid disqualification and meet the standard of care for following the scientific method.

Presenter Details:

Presenter: Mark W. Passamaneck, PE

Mr. Passamaneck is a mechanical engineer with fifteen years of experience in the forensic field. He is currently President and Senior Engineer at Entropy Engineer Corp. His forensic background includes the investigation of commercial and residential mechanical products and systems and associated failures, damages and injury causation. Mr. Passamaneck is a nationally recognized expert in plumbing system and component failures. He developed and managed the plumbing analysis group at Western Engineering while working on over 15,000 cases. His extensive plumbing expertise includes fire suppression systems, scald cases, material analysis, appliance failure analysis and code and standard compliance. He investigates failures and performance problems of HVAC systems including the design and installation of radiant heat systems. He has experience working in a manufacturing setting, successfully passing several Federal regulatory audits. Mr. Passamaneck has also had several articles published in newsletters and firearms related periodicals. He has presented numerous seminars on plumbing, mechanical systems and components and automotive related failures and accidents.
